During times of hardship and heartache, it is important for us as Christians to stand with and support Israel. The Bible, particularly the King James Version (KJV), provides us with a clear perspective on why we should do so.
First and foremost, God’s covenant with Abraham in Genesis 12:3 states, ‘And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.’ This verse emphasizes the importance of supporting Israel, as those who bless Israel will be blessed by God Himself.
Furthermore, in Psalm 122:6, we are instructed to ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.’ This verse highlights the significance of praying for and showing love towards Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. By supporting Israel, we are actively contributing to the peace and prosperity of Jerusalem.
Additionally, the Bible tells us in Isaiah 62:1, ‘For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.’ This verse reminds us that we should not remain silent when it comes to supporting Israel. We should be vocal advocates for Israel’s righteousness and salvation.
Moreover, in Romans 15:27, the apostle Paul urges believers to support the Jewish people, stating, ‘For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.’ This verse highlights the responsibility we have as Christians to support Israel in practical ways, such as providing financial assistance and humanitarian aid.
Lastly, in Zechariah 2:8, the Lord declares, ‘For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.’ This verse emphasizes the special place Israel holds in God’s heart. By supporting Israel, we are aligning ourselves with God’s chosen people and standing against those who seek to harm them.
As Christians, it is crucial for us to understand the biblical perspective on supporting Israel. By doing so, we not only fulfill God’s commandments but also demonstrate our love and obedience to Him. Let us continue to stand with Israel during these times of hardship and heartache, knowing that our support brings blessings, peace, and prosperity to both Israel and ourselves.
